Intro to the course:

This course will give you the skills you need for a career in professional cookery. This includes organisational skills, food preparation and cookery, preparing pastry and sweets, working safely and food hygiene. You will also develop your core skills for working in fast-paced restaurants and kitchens through work experience in both our training restaurant and bistro.

The sector covers a range of businesses from restaurants, hotels, cafes, conferences and event settings.

As part of your course, you will be able to develop key practical skills in our industry standard training facilities.

What are the entry requirements?

One or more of the following: 

  • two National 4 qualifications
  • NPA Professional Cookery at SCQF 4
  • Skills for Work - Hospitality 
  • equivalent recognised qualification 
  • for adult returners, suitable work experience is acceptable 
  • if English is not your first language, an interview to support your application may be beneficial

What are the interview arrangements?

Offers made will be based on your application.  Those who do not meet the minimum entry requirements will be invited for an individual interview.
