The HND in Counselling is a full time course that, on completion, enables professional registration as a Counsellor with BACP. This is a highly demanding and competitive course that requires attendance in college, participation in supervised practice and self-directed study.

This course is for people who want to gain professional registration as a Counsellor with BACP
Direct entry (at the discretion of the university) into third year of a BA (Hons) degree in a related subject
Supervised practice, written assignments and a graded unit.
You will be required to gain Student Membership of BACP prior to beginning direct practice and be covered by an appropriate Indemnity Insurance policy. A PVG Disclosure will be required. Personal therapy is recommended, but is not a mandatory requirement.
You must attend a minimum of 400 taught hours and 100 hours of client contact to be eligible for progressing to the BACP CoP at the end of the course. You are required to source your own counselling placement and supervision.
You'll be taught by lecturers from the sector, and benefit from guest speakers from the public and private counselling sectors. We link with COSCA, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and NHS Scotland.
