Intro to the course:

Careers in travel and tourism are changing in line with the industry which is increasingly demanding more professional skills, attitudes and expertise in a sophisticated and competitive marketplace within the ‘digital economy’.  On this course, you will learn the skills that are needed to get an entry level role in the travel industry, working in airport ground operations, airlines, travel agents or with tour operators.

You will also develop excellent customer service skills, discover changing attitudes and skills in this sector to enhance your career prospects and ensure you are well prepared for higher level studies before embarking on your exciting career in this growing industry.

This course is supported by guest lectures from those who currently work in the travel sector to learn about the job opportunities available and you will  participate in external visits throughout the course to experience local and regional tourism.

This National Certificate at SCQF Level 6 provides a natural progression from the Level 5 Take off to Cabin Crew and Aviation course onto the one year HNC or two year HND in Travel and Tourism courses giving future opportunities to study Degree level international tourism.

What are the entry requirements?

To join this course you will need:  

  • A genuine interest in travel
  • Three National 5 qualifications at C or above, one of which must be English OR
  • NC in Travel and Tourism at SCQF level 5 OR
  • Other equivalent qualification or experience 

If English is not your first language, an interview to support your application may be beneficial

What are the interview arrangements?

All applicants will be invited to a group interview and information session.
