Events Students Steal the Show at Playground Festival 2021

Live events are back, much to the delight of our incredible events students and staff.

South Lanarkshire College staff and NC and HNC Events students past and present put their skills and knowledge into in-person practice, when they spent the September Weekend volunteering at the hugely successful Playground Festival in Rouken Glen Park, East Renfrewshire.

The event held over 3 days was home to more than 10,000 revellers each day and included an array of talent from across the decades including: The Libertines, Glasvegas, Boy George with his band Culture Club and “We are Family” singers Sister Sledge.

With more than 20 years experience in Events, Events Management Lecturer, Kirsty Talbot, joined the students and was on hand to give advice throughout the weekend.  Kirsty said

“We were delighted to offer the students a real insight into live events by getting involved with the Playground Festival. Seeing the ins and outs of how a large scale event works really helped bring all their teaching to life”.

We are also delighted to say that following their experience at the event, one student has been offered some casual work with the Organisers and a former student has been offered a paid role at COP26 when he shone at his interview giving loads of examples from his experience at the weekend.
