South Lanarkshire college host first on campus event in 18 months

Virtual events, like for so many colleges and universities, have become the norm for South Lanarkshire College during the pandemic.

The college has hosted online graduations, open days and even corporate events over the past 18 months, ensuring that the college could still celebrate success, showcase the college and promote courses on offer despite the pandemic.

Although, with easing of restrictions across the country in recent weeks, the college is now offering their first on campus open day since Spring 2020. The open day, which is running on 17 August, will allow potential applicants to tour the campus, speak to staff and ask any questions they may have prior to starting or applying for a course at the college.

The open day will run from 11am until 6pm on Tuesday 17 August and pre booking is compulsory. The event will work on scheduled appointments where attendees book a 30 min slot to visit the campus, over the course of the day. Each slot will have a maximum of 6 people, where attendees will be given the opportunity to speak with admissions staff, student funds, support and other departments. Attendees will then be given individual tours to their subject of interest, where they will also get to speak to college lecturers.

The event will be held strictly in line with Government guidance, with social distancing, wearing of masks and regular cleaning taking place to ensure that all attendees and visitors are kept safe during the event.

Stella McManus, Depute Principal, added “I am absolutely delighted to be in a position to offer an on campus open day. This is something, as with many other things, that we certainly took for granted prior to the pandemic. We have such an incredible campus here at South Lanarkshire College and I can’t wait to welcome visitors through the door in August to find out more about the college.

Virtual events over the past 18 months have been great at showcasing the college but there really is no substitute to the real thing. The event will be completely covid-secure, with limited numbers, regular cleaning and all other guidance followed.

We look forward to welcoming you to visit the college.”
