Shutterhub 2021

We are delighted to announce that South Lanarkshire College Lecturer Colin McAlpine’s  ‘When We Fell Silent’ image has just been selected for the Shutterhub Worldwide photography exhibition.

The ShutterHub Yearbook Exhibition is a worldwide exhibition and was created last year due to COVID-19 forcing the cancellation of exhibitions, graduate shows etc… Shutterhub is recognised as one of the world’s leading photography organisations helping artists with promotion and funding.
Colin’s image was shot as part of a lockdown series/project called “When We Fell Silent” detailing the feeling of isolation and the impact it had on us all.
Colin is in good company in the competition, as South Lanarkshire College HND Photography graduate, Yvonne McGowan, has also had her ‘The Journey Home’ image chosen for the exhibition. Yvonne`s image was shot as part of her HND Documentary Photography class and her concept was to document the use of public transport as lockdown restrictions began to ease between December 2020 and May 2021.
Colin spoke of Yvonne’s image, he said ” I love Yvonne’s work, she’s managed to capture some beautiful moments of passengers going about their everyday lives during the pandemic”.

Colin continued, “We were both chosen from thousands of worldwide entries to be featured in the exhibition. If we make the top 100 (judging is still underway), we will be promoted to The Shutterhub Yearbook Publication, which will give further worldwide promotion.  To even be considered for Shutterhub Yearbook entry is HUGE deal for me, and I’m a Lecturer.. I can’t even comprehend what it must mean to a graduate starting out in their photographic career”.

We look forward to hearing the results.

Outstanding work team
