Appointment of New Chair – Board of Management

We’re delighted to announce that Andy Kerr, former member of the Scottish Cabinet and former MSP for East Kilbride, has been appointed as the new Chair of South Lanarkshire College.

Andy is an experienced chair, he is currently Chair of Quality Scotland, serves on a number of Boards relating to social care and disability and in the past he has also chaired a Committee of the Scottish Parliament, Scottish Government Spending Reviews, Scottish Cabinet Sub Committees and other public sector committees.  Andy Kerr is ideally placed to Chair the Board of Management of South Lanarkshire College.  Working with his fellow Board of Management members, the College Principal and staff, Andy will continue to support the strategic direction of the College.

Andy Kerr was Minister for Finance from 2001-2004 and Minister for Health and Wellbeing 2004-2007 and he successfully managed and introduced the first ban on smoking in public places in the UK.

Andy Kerr said “As an advocate and supporter of South Lanarkshire College over many years I am delighted to be part of the bigger mission of changing the life time opportunities of students and support the growth of our economy.  For someone born and brought up in East Kilbride, I am delighted to have been appointed the new Chair of South Lanarkshire College.”
