Eduroam

Eduroam Wi-Fi

Eduroam is a shared Wi-Fi service for staff and students of many education establishments across the UK and other countries. When you are enrolled in a course in South Lanarkshire College, you will be able to use free Wi-Fi both within SLC and within any education building that provides an “Eduroam” Wi-Fi service.

Please note: You must make sure you are able to use your account within SLC before attempting to login to the Eduroam Wi-Fi in any location, as it is possible that the password may have expired or is needing updated.

N.B.: All internet usage for mobile devices is still bound by the SLC acceptable usage policy and therefore goes through our firewall. Some websites, services and apps may be blocked due to their content. Approval for release of those websites must come through the standard request process via lecturers or staff at SLC.

The settings for each device are detailed in the previous sections. Just replace the SLC login details with your own Eduroam login details.

Login at other locations around the country

Multiple locations around the country can provide an Eduroam Wi-Fi signal, look out for posters or look at the surrounding Wi-Fi signal to see if it is available to you. To connect, you may have to follow the instructions published on the provider’s website e.g. University of Glasgow has a website for Eduroam (https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/it/eduroam/).

However, when you connect you must use your own username and password as described in the previous steps on this page.

You may also be bound by any acceptable usage policies provided by the location where you are using the Wi-Fi. Please check the provider’s website or internal posters.

For any problems, please contact the IT support email address or speak to a member of staff.
