Yes, South Lanarkshire College will remain open for support during the planned strike days.  Classes, unless otherwise stated by your lecturer, will not run on the planned strike days.

Our campus will still be open during planned strike days for student support. If you want support on campus during these days please email

The teaching union EIS-FELA have balloted their members on whether to take strike action. Their members have indicated that they are prepared to take strike action on selected dates between April and May. These dates are listed above. Our lecturers are not obliged to tell us if they are going out on strike, so we cannot confirm whether your lecturer will be working, therefore all classes, unless otherwise stated, will be cancelled on these dates

No, all students will be marked as present on the strike days. Your payments will not be impacted.

We fully appreciate that this is an additional worry for our student community, after an already tough year.  We will continue to work with you to support your learning and will ensure that we do everything possible to enable your next step in learning or your move into employment

The reason for the industrial action relates to pay.

If your class falls on a strike day, you are encouraged to use the time for self-study.  Resources for study should have been sent to you or will be available on the Student Portal and Teams.  If an assessment falls on a strike day, this will be rescheduled and your lecturer will inform you of the detail.

As this is a national strike, we cannot comment on the progress of negotiations.  We are working closely with college partners across Scotland and with the EIS-FELA Union and will let you know once we have more information.  We understand that negotiations remain ongoing.

You will get an email before each strike period detailing any arrangements and support available. Please remember to follow our social media channels and website for further updates

We are here to support you.  Please email if you are concerned, have any questions or need support
