Administrative, support and business services are predicted growth areas for employment in Lanarkshire over the next four years. This second year of this course is a progression from the HNC and can help you into a career in business, HR, marketing, operations, accounting or economics, including direct entry to third year of a relevant degree at university.
This course will start in August 2022.
Direct entry (at the discretion of the university) to third year of a BA (Hons) degree in a related subject, including Risk Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, International Business.
One or more of the following:
- 1 Higher plus 3 National 5 awards
- Relevant group of SQA National Qualifications at SCQF level 5/6
- Direct entry to 2nd year requires an HNC in Business, with a minimum of 14 credits and an A/B in graded unit 1
- Foundation apprenticeship in a relevant subject
- Equivalent recognised qualification
- Relevant work experience
- A keen interest in the subject area
- If English is not your first language, ESOL at an appropriate level or IELTS or equivalent with an entry score of 5.5 or above
Acceptance may depend on an interview.

The Chartered Institute of Bankers for Scotland will accept holders of HND directly into their higher level qualifications (Chartered Banker) which leads to MCIBS (Member of Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland).
Candidates completing the HND in Business are guaranteed Associate Grade of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Ongoing assessment through a range of practical activities, candidate folios, self-evaluation, planning and review using secure SQA assessment support packs, plus an end-of-term closed-book graded unit assessment in year 1
