HND Beauty Therapy


There is a high level of self directed study and students are required to undertake work experience as part of the course. Students are required to practise treatments on members of the public throughout the course.

• Management and practices of facial and body therapies
• Anatomy and physiology of the human body
• Employment experiences 1 and 2
• Contemporary electrotherapy
• Product knowledge
• Electro cosmetic therapy
• Lifestyle advice for clients
• Preparing and presenting a business plan
• Principles and practices of selling
• Graded units 1 and 2
• Reflexology
• Contemporary aesthetic treatments
• Electrical epilation
• Body massage
• Facial treatments
• Spa therapies
• Make-up for special occasions


• A minimum of 1 Higher, preferably English or
• City & Guilds Level 3 Beauty Therapy
• A mature attitude with life experience may be considered
• Recommended minimum age 17 years. Maturity of approach is essential
• Students must be prepared to communicate and work with members of the public and to practise
their skills within the peer group
• Successful performance at interview

Successful students may find employment in: salons and clinics; sports centres and health clubs; ocean liners and airlines; retail management; lecturing and
assessing; self employment.
