COURSE CONTENT

Core units:
• Promoting quality of life through dementia skilled practice
• Health wellbeing and safeguarding
• Mental health issues in a care setting
• Care in contemporary society
• Lifespan development theoretical approaches
• Collaborative working
• Leadership starts with me
• Core practice
• Graded unit 1

SVQ units:
• Promote health, safety and security in the work setting
• Promote effective communication
• Develop your practice through refection & learning

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2 Highers, one of which should be English or
  • At least 12 SQA National Units at Higher
  • Candidates should be over 18 years of age at the commencement of the course
  • Applicants with previous experience will be considered at interview
  • One suitable reference
  • Successful students will be subject to PVG vetting
  • Satisfactory entry test and performance at interview

 

NEXT STEP COURSE OPTIONS

Successful completion may allow students to progress to HND Additional Support Needs, a degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, UWS Integrated Health & Social Care degree.  Progression is dependent on a satisfactory PVG check and a satisfactory reference.

Career opportunities exist to work with a range of services in a variety of care settings and services. Career progression will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory PVG check.
