Why should I study legal services?

Studying legal services will set you on the path to a career in law, legal services and criminology. The average annual salary for newly qualified lawyers is £42,000 and there are ample job opportunities. Almost three in four UK legal employers are planning to recruit staff over the next 12 months and beyond so there are plenty of opportunities ahead.

What jobs can I get in this area?

You can get work as a paralegal, solicitor or lawyer. There are also opportunities for administrative or supervisory/management roles in business and finance in commercial, public and police services.

When you register for the HNC/HND Legal Services you can enrol with the Scottish Paralegal Association (SPA) as a student member, or at a higher level depending on relevant work experience.

How are the courses taught?

You’ll learn through work placement, groupwork, lectures and guest speakers.

You’ll get the chance of visits to the Crown Office, local law firms and other organisations.
