We’ve a great new HNC Applied Science course starting in August 2017. This one year course will help you to develop and gain an understanding in Applied Science; developing analytical, evaluative and problem solving skills with chemistry and biology theory while underpinning practical skills in a laboratory setting. The course will include units in Chemistry, Biology, DNA/ Genetics, Statistics and Laboratory skills. On completion of the course you’ll be able to apply for the HND Applied Science course or progress to University to study the area further.
The development of this new and exciting course has encouraged applications from our students currently studying on the SWAP Health and Science Course. SWAP student Carole McCusker decided to make a life change and join our Health and Science course after working in an office based role for 18 years while raising her 3 children. Carole really enjoyed the change and will now progress on to the HNC Applied Science course to expand her knowledge and skills in this ever changing sector.
Carole says ‘Studying science this year has reinforced my desire to follow my dreams, it has instilled the confidence and drive I needed to pursue a career in paramedical science’
Carole will be joined on the HNC Applied Science course by her current SWAP classmate Hannah Hamilton. Hannah left a career within the travel industry when she applied for the SWAP course, Hannah’s thoroughly enjoyed her first year at the College and is looking forward to progressing to HNC Applied Science in August 2017.
Hannah says ‘SWAP has been amazing and opened up a whole new world of learning, South Lanarkshire College and it’s wonderful Lecturers have given me the skills and confidence to continue on and study my HNC’.
