Gordon Palmer

I’ve been minister at Claremont Parish Church since September 2003. I’m from Glasgow and have been a minister for over twenty years – I was at a church in Glasgow and then in Edinburgh before coming to Claremont.

I see a psychiatrist every day (my wife) and have two daughters, both at Calderglen. I enjoy playing badminton and hillwalking, listening to music & going to gigs, reading & films, following sport especially Aberdeen FC (no sheep jokes, please, we have heard them all.

Anne Paton

I was brought up in Balloch (Loch Lomond). On leaving school, I studied at Jordanhill College and then worked for ten years as a Primary School Teacher. During this time I studied for a degree in psychology with the Open University. In 1996, I went back to study divinity at Glasgow University, and was ordained a Church of Scotland minister in 2001, when I became the minister of East Kilbride Old Parish.

In my spare time I enjoy relaxing with family and friends, and when I can find the time, I am a keen gym member.

John McGarry

I was ordained a permanent deacon for the Catholic Church in September 2011. I assist Fr Owen Ness at St Brides Church. I recently retired from a 35 year career in Social Work having worked in Glasgow for most of that time. For the last 10 years or so of my career I was involved in the training of social workers.

I’m married with one daughter and two granddaughters who live in the Bishopbriggs area of Glasgow and I enjoy walking in the Scottish hills and in the Lake District in the North of England along with my wife and close friends. I enjoy music and singing and have been part of choirs and drama groups over the years.  I’m currently learning to play the guitar (never too late to learn!).

 Christine Bush

I’ve been a Humanist Celebrant since 2009. Prior to that my work brought me in contact with people of all ages and backgrounds, in social work settings, teaching in a further education college and more latterly with a project raising awareness of domestic abuse.

From my early twenties I’ve enjoyed living abroad and in a number of places across the UK, always working my way further north, finally arriving in Glasgow 29 years ago where I put down roots and made my home with my husband and daughter.

In my spare time I try to keep fit, meeting up with a friend each week for a four mile run, although the knees are beginning to complain these days. Yoga and swimming offer a more gentle work out! I find pottering in my garden to be a great form of relaxation, although there are times when it can turn into a battle with nature.
