COURSE CONTENT

The award will provide vocational education in events, allowing you to leave college with a broad experience in organising as well as supporting events of all sizes. The theory will underpin the knowledge required to become an Events Manager. The work experience Unit provides a vital opportunity for learners to develop vocational experience to prepare you for employment or to further academic qualifications.

Also includes two Professional Development Awards:
•    PDA Events
•    PDA Events Operations

The mandatory work experience unit requires students to undergo PVG vetting

Core units include:
• Organising and managing an event
• Events industry: an introduction
• Event legislation: safety, licensing, contracts and protection
• Event budgeting and funding
• Using software application packages
• Complex oral presentations
• Marketing and marketing planning
• Behavioural skills for business
• Sustainable development
• Contemporary issues and influences
• Work experience
• Two Graded units

Optional units may include:
• Digital culture: online communication
• Financial forecasts and resources
• Public relations
• Conferences
• HR management
• Customer care
• Communication in Spanish
• Exhibition planning and organisation

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• 1 Higher English or Social Sciences plus 3 National 5 awards or
• Relevant National Qualification award at SCQF Level 5/6 or
• Equivalent qualification from other awarding bodies
• Students with relevant work experience will also be considered
• Successful performance at interview

Access to year 2 typically requires 15 credits including all of the HNC Events mandatory units
