Head of FacultyAnne HeffermanCurriculum ManagerElaine RodgerEmail: elaine.rodger@slc.ac.uk Additional Support NeedsDyslexia testing and other learning support can be organised through Student Services or through the Course Tutor assigned to each class group. Working with your subject Lecturers and Course Tutor, the Support for Learning Lecturers will help organise additional resources and support to ensure that you achieve your goals. We have a range of special aids, enabling technologies and equipment and software that can be loaned to you while you are studying and we can arrange to have materials available on tape, in large print or in braille. Literacy and Numeracy SupportIf you have a specific or more general need for support, please speak to the Admissions Team before you enrol, or to your Course Tutor after you enrol. During induction, you will be asked to complete a short checklist to help identify any additional help you might need with English and/or maths. Maybe your English or Maths skills are rusty, or perhaps you never had a chance to brush up these skills before. Whatever the reason, we hope to help.Alternatively, you may opt to join the Skills for Life workshops to brush up on study skills or areas of learning that have given problems in the past. Enabling Technologies
The College has a range of enabling technologies to assist students who have a disability or special learning need. If you think you might need specialist aids to assist you in your learning, speak to a member of the Learner Support Team. They will help you identify the equipment that is most suitable for your needs and also identify whether the resources are available in College or whether you should apply for funding through the Disabled Students' Allowance (HE students) or the Additional Support Needs for Learning Allowance (FE students). If the enabling technology is available in College, you will be given an issue authorisation slip to take to the College Library and the resource will be issued to you via your library membership card. |
