Student Funding

Apply for the appropriate funding for your course

Different sources of funding are available to students so it's important to ensure that you apply for the funding appropriate to your level of course.
  • Students on Higher National (advanced level) should apply to SAAS for their fees and for the Student Loan.(see below)
  • Students on FE (non-advanced level) courses - SWAP, Higher, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, NC. NQ - should apply for a College Bursary and/or EMA.

Application forms are available from the Advice Centre.

Most funding is means tested. If you do not supply all the required information, it could result in your payment being delayed and/or a wrong assessment of your entitlement. Please help us (College Bursary, Education Maintenance Allowance, Hardship and Childcare Funds) and the other funding bodies (SAAS, the Student Loan Co, ILA Scotland etc) to assess your application quickly and accurately by ensuring that:
  • All sections of the application form are completed in full
  • All supporting paperwork and evidence is submitted with your application

Apply before the deadline

If you delay your application you may not receive funding, so apply as soon as you possibly can and ensure that you do not leave it too late and miss the deadline which could be as soon as 6 weeks after the date you start on your course.

Apply early

You should apply for funding as soon as you possibly can. August and September are very busy months for the College Bursary Office and for SAAS and the Student Loan Co who deal with not only HNC and HND College courses but also all the University courses.  Don't be caught out - get your application in as soon as you possibly can and respond quickly and fully to any requests for additional information!!
