Winner of the UK College Restaurant of the Year 2006South Lanarkshire College's hospitality training facility the Enigma Restaurant won the prestigious award of College Restaurant of the Year in 2006 and was a finalist in 2008. The judging team, made up of The Craft Guild of Chefs, Sponsors and Restaurant Magazine, travelled the length and breadth of the UK to select the regional champions out of the 65 Colleges who had entered the competition. The judges commented "All the South Lanarkshire dishes had distinctive flavours that showed creative and original use of ingredients. In addition to this, the Front of House team were confident, knowledgeable and professional".
LunchThe Training Restaurant and Conference Facility is open four days per week during term time, with a three course lunch being served for 5.95. Student discounts may apply at certain times.The Chef Lecturer, with his team of professional cookery students, will prepare and cook a superb variety of culinary delights for you to experience - served to you at the table by a different team of students studying food service. On a couple of occasions a year the students prepare and serve a lunch buffet. The Students are studying on a range of programmes up to HND Hospitality Management. Gourmet Evenings On six special evenings each year under the close supervision of the Chef Lecturer and Restaurant Management Lecturer, the students will treat you to an evening of fine dining and culinary excellence. The Gourmet Evenings are held to celebrate special national and College calendar events. Canapes are served prior to the meal between 6.30 and 7 pm with the first course served at 7 pm prompt.
We accommodate and welcome guests with special dietary requirements. However, please advise at the time of booking in order to allow the kitchen staff to be equally creative with their meals. This applies also to any guest who has a preference for "well done" food.
The cost of the gourmet evening experience is £22.50 per person. Due to the success of these evenings, it is advisable to book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
Because of the high number of last minute cancellations we received last term, bookings will only be accepted with a £10 deposit which is, without exception, non-refundable.
