The Scottish Qualifications Authority, or SQA as it is more commonly known, is the main accreditation body for qualifications in Scotland.

The usual progression route for students is to start at NQ level and progress, if they wish, to HNC then HND level study and then to university to complete a degree although some students will start at HNC level.
These qualifications include:
NQ / SGA: National Qualification Units which may lead to a Scottish Group Award
Unit and SGA Levels include Access 1 / 2 / 3 Intermediate 1 / 2 Higher / Advanced Higher SVQ Level 1 / 2 / 3 Scottish Vocational Qualification HNC Higher National Certificate HND Higher National Diploma PDA Level 1 / 2 / 3 Professional Development Award
Some subject areas have qualifications from other certificating bodies such as ECDL from the British Computer Society. If you need more information on the course you plan to study, just ask.
