South Lanarkshire College was recently represented in the UK National Skillbuild finals at Coleg Menai in Wales by College Construction faculty students.

Student Steven Butler took home a WorldSkills UK Silver medal, in the roof slating and tiling category  while Kenny McAllister was awarded a WorldSkills UK Bronze medal, in
the plastering category.   Sean Ferguson, took home a WorldSkills UK bronze medal, in the Painting and Decorating category. As one of the four finalists to share  third place in the competition Sean received a WorldSkills UK medal. He was also presented with a Crown Trade Apprentice Decorator of the Year 2010 medal and a cheque for £250.

Steven Butler was also the  winner of the Frank Eaton Award said: “It feels fantastic to have won a medal at the UK final of SkillBuild and to be named as one of the best construction
appretices in the country. The competition at this level is so fierce, so to come out on top and demonstrate the expert skill and experience I have attained is amazing".
