South Lanarkshire College is delighted and grateful for the generous sponsorship from Coca Cola Enterprises for various groups of students through the Coca Cola CRS initiative. Groups of students on various courses who recently visited the Coca Cola plant in East Kilbride found the visit thoroughly enjoyable as well as being interesting and informative. Jacqueline Parfery, a HND Hospitality Management student was the winner of a mountain bike, presented by Drew Russell on 29 November as a prize for winning a Coca Cola competition during the visit.
The College is particularly grateful for Coca Cola’s sponsorship of work with students who have additional and profound learning support needs. This sponsorship has helped the college to provide resources and equipment, high-quality workwear for the students and higher staffing levels necessary to meet the specific needs of the group. The participating students are being given the opportunity to achieve a national qualification at SVQ level 1. Coca Cola’s direct support is helping students in this group to develop essential core skills in confidence building, money handling, customer care, and serving hot and cold foods in a realistic work environment. The aim is to help them to be more ready for the world of work when they complete their course.
Drew Russell, Safety & Environment Manager for Coca-Cola Enterprises East Kilbride said that they “were proud to sponsor South Lanarkshire College Bistro Learning Support students, as part of their Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CRS) programme”. He went on to say that “We are keen to drive our CRS initiatives across our community in order to share the areas in which we focus, for example, promoting an active lifestyle, and supporting a diverse and inclusive culture”.
