Accommodation

You will be accompanied to your accommodation and shown to your room. Staff will be there to explain how to use appliances etc and a 'welcome pack' of essential foods will be provided.

The accommodation contains 6 single study bedrooms, sharing kitchen/living room, 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets. Some flats are adapted for students with disabilities. Each bedroom is attractively furnished and centrally heated, offering a comfortable living environment. The flats are minutes away from Hamilton town centre which provides a range of sporting and leisure facilities such as football, rugby, golf, tennis, ice skating, cycle hire, horse riding, ten pin bowling, and water sports. There is a swimming complex opposite the flats.

Orientation Tour

You will be given a tour of your new college where you will meet your tutors, view classrooms and college facilities and be given a tour around the local area. You will also be given a range of student guides and handbooks full of useful information.

There are excellent bus and rail links to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Buddy Programme

accounting student We have launched a new Buddy Programme because we understand that you may feel strange and out of place when you first arrive. To help you overcome these feelings, we will introduce you to a friend (buddy) who will get to know you and help you adjust to life in Scotland - from a student perspective. Your buddy will be a volunteer Scottish student or experienced international student who wants to help you settle in. We know that the sooner you feel at home, the more you'll get out of your studies and really start enjoying the whole experience.

Course Tutor

You will be assigned a Course Tutor who will take a special interest in you and will meet with you to discuss your progress with your studies, and to give guidance on next steps. Your Course Tutor is the first person to contact if you need help with or find yourself in difficulties with your studies.

Student Services

The Department of Student Services offers support and guidance to all College students, so you should also take a look at that section of the College website. You will find a lot of useful information about being a student at South Lanarkshire College.
