Advice and Guidance
The staff in the Admissions Team will be pleased to give you advice and guidance on the courses we offer. If you wish a copy of the current prospectus, please contact them (details below). The main prospectus is available from March / April each year and the part-time day / evening prospectus is normally available from May / June.
Information events are organised in the Spring (usually one in April and one in May) and in August. Members of Faculty Staff are in attendance to give advice on specific courses.
The Advice Centre is open all year and Admissions staff will be pleased to speak to personal callers between 09.00 and 16.30, with or without an appointment.
When to apply
Full-time applicants may apply for a course at any time during the year. Generally speaking, the earlier you apply the better. There is more chance of a place being available on the course of your choice and there is more time to apply for the funding for your studies.
Industrial Experience
In line with the current educational approach to lifelong learning, applicants with relevant industrial experience may gain entry to a course without the stated entry qualifications, subject to the agreement of the College Principal or Head of Faculty.
Admissions Interviews
It is usual for full-time and some part-time/evening course applicants to meet with a Course Tutor/Lecturer from the Department in which they intend to study. This interview is to ensure that students make the correct choice of course of study, that they meet the eligibility criteria, and to discuss the implications of previous study that might affect your funding. It is an opportunity to discuss the course content in more depth, often with a senior member of the Department or with the Course Leader. Where appropriate, parents or carers are welcome.
Late Applications
If you delay applying until shortly before the start of your chosen course, you should bear in mind that it may take several weeks to arrange a Bursary or SAAS funding / Student Loan. If you find yourself in this position, you should speak to a member of the Student Services Team who may be able to arrange a small crisis loan while you are waiting for your funding application to be processed. The loan is repaid once your student funding is in place and you have received your first payment.
Part-time Day and Evening Courses
Please see the part-time section of the website.
Refunds
Refunds will be given in full if any course fails to run (see paragraph 3 of the Terms & Conditions). Other requests for refunds will be dealt with at the discretion of the Finance Manager.
Terms and Conditions
A copy of the summary terms and conditions of enrolment is available in the Policies section on the website or by clicking the link above. A copy of the full terms and conditions is available from Student Services on request.
