Quality Standards

Staff

In addition to holding appropriate degree or vocational qualifications, the majority of lecturing staff hold a Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) or other teaching qualification.  Those members of staff involved in the delivery of Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) hold the D32, 33, 34 qualifications or are working towards the A qualifications - Assessor and Internal Verifier Awards.

As an SQA Approved Centre, South Lanarkshire College has devolved status for SQA course approvals and internal moderation and is an approved centre to deliver qualifications from the following bodies:

  • Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) (formerly NEBS)
  • Council for Administration (CfA)
  • Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP) (British Sign Language)

  • BPEC/ACS Gas
  • REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland)

Investors in People (IiP)

IIP_GOLD_LOGO In 1997, the College was awarded Investor in People status, and was successfully reassessed in 1999, 2000, 2003, and again in January 2007, demonstrating the College's commitment to the development of its staff, a vital part of the success of the College as a whole. In 2008, the College was awarded Investors in People Gold Standard.

Investor in Diversity (IiD)

IiD logoIn June 2011, the College became the first orginsation in Scotland to be recognised as a full 'Investor in Diversity', achieving the Level 2 Investors in Diversity award in recognition of its positive and proactive work in all areas of equality, diversity and inclusion. 

The College was pleased to host the Scottish launch of Investors in Diversity and is currently working towards 'Leader in Diversity' status.
